HAPPY MINTS, cannabis mints

Dimensions pictured below

A conceptual brand to better refine my branding and packaging work. I decided to create random theme, that I drew out of an actual hat. Between dozens of styles and topics, I drew Wes Anderson, and The Circus… no problem.

The Thumbnails to the left are the brain splatter of my ideas with this hybrid of quirky, and vintage inspo. .

START OF PROCESS:

The Moodboard supports my thumbnails and begins to transform my original logo and package assets. Wes Anderson is very pattern heavy, with some sort of beat bohemian sketchbook style illustrations. This mix of serious but not serious plays into the next phase of my branding process….

FINAL LOGO DRAFTS

Final drafts of my logo design, which will lead the way in style through the rest of the packaging. I ended up choosing the logo on the left, it felt like a good mix of that Victorian formality and some modern elements to make it lighthearted.

PATTERN ASSET:

I found this vintage clown illustration from the Library of Congress. It was a costume sketch for a production of Pinocchio in 1939. This lil’ guy was perfect for that pattern I was trying to conjure. The patterns and illustrations on the Moodboard are found here with this simple, classic, and only mildly terrifying clown to meld Wes and the Circus theme together cohesively.

DIMENSIONS:

This package is inspired by a simple Altoids tin, a very Wess-y type of prop. Inspiration guided me by imagining this type of item in an Anderson character’s suitcase or train tray. State of Oregon regulations for packaging in retail also considered through this process; all warnings and product information clearly labeled.

STYLE GUIDE:

Finally, the collection, my favorite step. I added the palette to the inside of the tin, which had not been included. Those little plus symbols keep the fluidity of the logo’s little icons. The message is another quirky and dry approach to remind consumer’s that this brand wants them to come back.

Colors are influenced by the circus and a retro, but saturated color scheme throughout, with a bold red to draw the eye where needed. As with the clown, the palette is also inspired by vintage circus posters

Type relies on a non-filled Futura, with plenty of kerning to represent Wes’s unmistakable style.

FINAL PRODUCT:

A cute tin can that can fit right in your coat or back pocket. A mash-up of Wes Anderson and the Circus.
